ROBERTO GARBARINO: THE VINERY FARM

The wine is the result of passion, hard work and dedication.

ABOUT US

Our young winery was born in 2010 to pursue a dream and a passion, after a degree in oenology, an experience in New Zealand and after having worked with some of the most important producers in Langa.

The dream is to produce high quality classical method wines in a land of important reds, and believe in it to the point of starting as – perhaps – the smallest producer of Alta Langa  DOCG with 2000 bottles of the 2013 vintage.

We believe that the bottle tells the story of the past year, the seasons, the climate, but above all it is the direct line with the earth.

We follow every stage of the production process, from the vineyard to the cellar, trying to have a conduction that is as respectful of the territory as possible and what we are looking for in wine is elegance, balance and pleasantness.

ROBERTO

My wine history began 20 years ago, in Turin. After graduating in viticulture and oenology from the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences of Turin, I moved to the Langhe in 2001, where I worked as an oenologist.

I was lucky enough to work with some great masters who taught me what I still consider fundamental in my work: 80% of the quality of the wine starts in the vineyard, every single day, with commitment and dedication. The respect for the land is then translated into wanting to produce the best that that land can give, without forcing and without following trends.

BEATRICE

I worked for more than 20 years in communication in Milan, after classical studies and a degree in Archeology. Was born in Como, from a French and a dad who’s origins are from Romagna, so I feel that change has always been part of my lifestyle.

Happy with the metropolitan and managerial experiences, today I am even more satisfied to stand beside Roberto in our project which is shaping everyday more and gives us a farsighted vision, but keeps our feet well grounded.

OUR VINEYARDS

Our vineyards are mainly located in the municipality of Neviglie and are characterized by an average age of 20 years.

They consist of 1.5 hectares of Chardonnay for the production of Alta Langa, 2 hectares of Moscato. Then we have 1.5 hectares of Riesling and 0.5 hectares of Rossese bianco planted in 2021. Most of them are located on a south-west facing slope, facing Treiso and Monviso at an average altitude of 450 m. above sea level. The Pinot Nero Sotto Casa vineyard, on the other hand, is  facing east and is dedicated as well to the production of Alta Langa. That vineyard, located just below the cellar, facing east, is our first Pinot Nero vineyard, planted in 2010, when every thing started.

Starting from 2020 we have expanded the vineyards by 4.5 hectares, in the Trezzo Tinella area, to increase the production of Alta Langa. The new Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vineyards are exposed to the east, just like the Sotto Casa one, at an altitude of 500 meters above sea level.

Steep, clayey soils with some sandy veins allow us obtaining an excellent quality of the  grapes. Characterized by mild winters, despite the altitude, and cool summers, the vines enjoy a cool and dry climate, the perfect climatic context for producing elegant sparkling wines with a strong character.
